Hi,

Never been to the city so the Mrs and I are thinking of booking a hotel this Saturday.

Any recommendations for good eating places - Italian, Bistro, Mexican, Tappas etc all in the mix.

Thanks
Gary

Most of the following are in the Lace Market area aside from World Service, which is close to the castle;

Indian - Anoki, brilliant if you like a good curry
Italian - Piccolino (chain, but very good food last time I went in)
World Service - long time since I've been, not sure how i'd describe the food but is very highly regarded
Dino's (on Warser Gate) not sure if still in business but very good independant bistro/bar
Chinese - Shanghai Shanghai, very authentic, excellent menu
Pitcher & Piano - lovely venue in an old church, good for lunchtime drinks & nibbles.

Oh, I'd also add Marrakesh into the mix, Moroccan food, last time I went in had an amazing plate of bbq meats, some evenings they have live belly dancing on, its at the top end of the market square

My favourite Indian is Mogal-E-Azam. Not as glitzy as some but always brilliant.

Tucked away at the side of the Theatre Royal.

Good shout, been going there for donkey's years, and its generally our pre theatre destination of choice when going to a show or concert.

Still think Anoki is the best indian in town, Desi Lamb is to die for!

Bar Iberico in Hockley, great tapas like the sister restaurant but a little cheaper and (in my opinion) a much nicer environment
