I'm on the cusp of fisting the kumquat on a Honda Jazz lease, I've been offered maintenance at £9pm (24 month). Is it likely to cost more or less than £216 for the services I require in that time?

Anyone know typical Honda service costs?

We need to know the mileage you will be doing.....

£9 per month for 30k a year is very cheap
£9 per month for 1k a year is expensive......

According to the Honda site, the first year service (12,500 miles or 12 mth) is £210, the second year (25,000 mile) is £280.

I'd get it included in your lease.. http://www.honda.co.uk/cars/owners/0-3-years-old.h...

Intriguing charges there
  • £75 additional charge for CVT.
  • £100 surcharge for Type R valve clearance & Diesel fuel filter replacement
What needs to happen to a CBT that costs £75 every 2 years?
and £100 for valve clearance?
A diesel fuel filter is £100?
On a Jazz

How many tyres will you need over the time (I would guess that a Jazz wouldn't need tyres in the first 20k miles?) - and will it need the second service?

The 9*24 covers the cost of the first service that you WILL need, anything else you have done is then "free".

Service menu is for all Hondas, not just Jazz.
Type R engine is very trick and needs special equipment to do valve clearances.
CVT?. May need oil changing every 2 years??

Unlike most cars, Type R has mechanical valves not hydraulic, this is one of the reasons it can rev so high. This does mean they must be manually checked and if needed adjusted. It is actually quite rare for them to need adjustment until well past 100k miles.

The CVT probably has software that needs updating, rebooting, shouting at, turning on and off again and various other things to stop it being annoying and probably an oil change.

It says on the sheet for 2nd year service
'Everything included in your 1st year service plus:
Replace dust and pollen filter, Inspect drive belt, Replace transmission fluid (cvt models only)*, Replace air filter element (Insight only)'

What type of CVT needs new fluid every 2 years - what's in it?
A standard torque convertor box has fluid for life

The CVT's I use at work are hydro/mechanical and use a super universal oil. There's no way I'd leave the fluid in a torque convertor for life, not changing the oil is what buggers them up. The oil in the torque convertor in the loader at work has a 1000 hour oil change interval. I did it a few weeks ago. Uses Dextron. Some heavy duty engine oils meets Allison auto specs, I've put CASEIH No.1 in an HD4650p transmission.
