Be careful, the seller is not prepared to let you get a garage to do a PPI before parting with your hard earned wedge. I know, I thought I had agreed a purchase price this p.m. only to be met with the vendor refusing to do the deal if I wanted someone like JZM to inspect. You can all make your own minds up why he would be taking up such a strange position. I did and ran in the other direction.
BTW if any of you know where I can lay my hands on a nice LHD Mk1 GT3 at a sound price then please email me

Did you want him to drive it to the garage for a PPI? He may not have insurance for it at present if it's in storage and may be reluctant to do that for every potential buyer from Ebay.
The rest of the description is fairly open like the 'Ring bump. The starter motor problem was one I had on my Mk1 GT3 also (maybe due to irregular use) - never got to the bottom of it and neither did my OPC when they were asked to investigate.
Anyway, it may be OK although he should at least be willing to have it inspected at storage site.

Point taken about the insurance cover. However, this guy was not happy for me to have the car inspected full stop even though we had provisionally agreed a price. Whether JZM would be prepared to do an on site inspection in a dimly lit garage corner and without taking the car for a proper test drive I very much doubt it some how. My point being that if the PPI showed up a significant(not just a broken starter or a cracked headlight) problem such as an engine problem(it was hunting and mis-firing - maybe they all do this) then I would either want to walk away(having just wasted £200 on an inspection) or expect the price to be adjusted accordingly. Am I being unreasonable???
The vendor has subsequently added the words "the csr is sold abolutely as seen". As they say you pays your money and takes your choice.

you should have scrolled down to the bottom...
"During Easter 2001, in the snow, I had a low speed exit at the Nuerburgring and the left rear of the car caught the armco, straightening the car so that the left front also met the armco. A left rear suspension strut designed to snap on lateral impact did. The car was repaired by Porsche in Bonn and a fantastic job was done. I have driven it for four years since, with no ill effects. A Porsche inspection should reveal that repair work has been carried out at the left rear. The additional paint thickness is detectable with the right instrument."

Don't get me wrong I'm not trying to diss this guy, just trying to say that I find it odd that he's not prepared to let you do a PPI on a £35k motor.
BTW I had read all of the advert and was fully aware of the repair job and the curbed wheels and so the chap was very honest in the way in which the car was described. The repair work did indeed look(in the dark of the garage) like it had been done well. That's why I was somewhat taken aback when the prospect of a PPI was so quickly rejected.
It could well be that he genuinely didn't have the time to arse about and could stand the possible loss of a few thousand just to sell it as seen. Sadly if this is the case and the car is a good un then I have missed out on a bit of a bargain. Oh well that's life.
