Selling my Mercedes A250 AMG and wanting something for a maximum of £7k that i can make exterior and performance modifications to over time. Was looking at the Audi TT mk2 3.2 V6 but after looking into it, people are saying performance modifications are limited.

Want something that's not going to be too big of a step down from the Mercedes, interior wise. Any suggestions and reasons why are appreciated!

You can modify anything. Do you not have any other criteria? Type of car? Engine? Performance? Age?

If you want power upgrades relatively easily look for a turbocharged car, say a Golf GTI, Focus ST Renault Megane RS etc.

Would a 2.0tfsi TT not creep into budget? Eg something like this https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2... (not necessarily this one though, just an example).

Edit: these map to 250ish without mods and with some bolts on up to around 275. Bigger turbo and you can be aiming at 350+, but that would be pricey!

Would the 2.0 TT be recommended over the 3.2?

Yes if you want want to tune it, but they don't sound as nice being a 4cyl turbo over a VR6. Quicker in the real world and much faster when mapped. Far more economical and lighter over the front too.

I'd say the 350Z get an auto if you don't want to change gear, tuning options are numerous & IMO they're a sweeter steer than the TT.
