Sold my 430 about 6 weeks ago and, unusually for me, I have not replaced it with anything yet.
I am torn between sticking with the Ferrari family and choosing a 599, or going back to my earlier Porsche roots with a GT3 Gen2. (similar price points)
I realise they are very different cars, but my question on this occasion is: Based on a 8 - 10 ownership period, which do you think is most likely to hold it's value, if driven on average 5k per year?

I always wanted a GT3 but since owning the 430 (spider) I have realised there isn't quite such a sense of 'occasion' as one gets with the F car..

I know it's a bit of a first world problem, but always interesting to get a 'value prediction' thread started.

Discuss....

But how will this help your decision making since if its anything like the 430 you will be out of it within four years ?

Owned my 599 for only 18 months and it is certainly 'an event'. It's a magnificent car. But if this is, in part, a financial decision then you have to factor running costs and on that basis the GT3 is surely going to be significantly cheaper on servicing, consumables, etc. I'd say they'll be equally matched in terms of holding their value, although having to pay 'overs' for the GT3 might bite you in the derrière at some point down the line.

I believe if you don't do too many miles, the value won't change much. But maintenance may be more expensive.
For sure the 599 is much much more eventful than the Porsche.

I’m with others. Values probably equal chance, but Fez running costs markedly higher, probably double. Also, the Fez is much less usable day to day due to size, ability to park it and so on.

I have a 612 and a GT3 and find the GT3 easier to use in my day to day life. I do like having both, but if it was one I’d go Porsche.

I'm lucky enough to own both a 430 Scud and a 997.2 GT3. Now the Scud is a mega thing (a keeper) and am aware it will itself be a different experience to the 430 spider but I do get the Fezza event (owned 3 other red cars). Do not however discount the GT3 as not being an event, to do so is to miss out on a truly brilliant driving experience, it just delivers its thrills in a slightly different way.

I've never had a car get under my skin (as a drivers car) like the GT3 and I would say it even trumps my Scud in some areas. They have a real Motorsport howl and are incredibly tactile.

What they do less well is the cruise down the Kings Road and if that's your bag (not mine personally) then fine but stick more with the F cars.
