Caterham Superlight R No 51
Discussion
Does anyone know this car?
History, previous owners - any information would be very much appreciated?
Its listed in the PH classifieds - red / 2 owners / 10'000 miles.
Its been for sale with two dealers now having undergone what is listed in the advert as a full restoration.
Thanks in advance.

ah spare wheels .......
Un sure about this car but I've got a Superlight that has a spare wheel . On the option list when the car was built, there was no option on the list of extras. It was a special order. I've seen the JPE which was another light weight special fitted with a spare wheel .

It's an 'interesting' car aestehtically isn't it. It seems to be at the 3rd dealer that have tried to sell it over the last 6 months.
I'm often surprised by the way people have spec'd their lightweight cars. Spare wheel is the strangest, but loads seem to have the big leather seats, heaters etc too. I wonder if they'd have been better off starting with a more touring orientated model.

But then they wouldn’t have been able to spec the utterly wonderful VHPD engine, would they? Plenty of 1.6/8 Superlights were specced in this way and I’d argue that the relative paucity of power made that decision even more odd.I'm often surprised by the way people have spec'd their lightweight cars.
