I found this last night.

I am normally out like a light when my head hits the pillow, but last night I lay there at 2 AM my head buzzing with the thought of a posse of greasy, hideous filthy scum abusing children over and over so many times and... I'm going to stop there for now and let you all listen. Then I want the police officers on here to tell me how this happened, specifically the story starting at 9:0 on the video. As I listened I had to pause it and force myself to try and take in what I was hearing. I don't think I have ever felt the need for revenge and justice that I did when I listened to this unfolding.

These events, although historical, were only revealed in detail last month by Andrew Norfolk, an investigative journalist with the Times: please remember that as you listen to the subject matter. This is a man clearly of the highest personal integrity and immense courage demostrated by his sheer tenacity in pursuing the truth against all the powers of political correctness, police corruption and incompetence and clear, blatant criminal activity by councils stacked against him.

This is not some right wing bigot or the Sun or any other sensationalist publication. This is the Times for god's sake, and I applaud them wholeheartedly.

My heart totally goes out to this reporter. If this isn’t worth a Nobel peace priize or and the Pulitzer then I. Don’t know what is.

It’s a very long time to have to keep going on such a harrowing story, especially when his job requires him to be totallly objective. Sorry about the misspells I’ve been up over 48hrs and 02.57 RESPECT!!

I don't normally look at click bait thread titles but did this time.

The one thing that seems to be missing from this and many other pieces on the same subject is any suggestion of a motive for the various authorities involved. Actions (at least where there is sanity) calls for a motive, and inaction where there would normally be action also needs a motive.

So what was the motive here?

The only 'motive' I ever got told when working in Public sector was 'we have to protect the minister' rolleyes
As mentioned elsewhere looks like good old pc may have come into play rolleyes
Personally I think people should always be told the truth rather than bury it even if they don't like it. Then they can draw their own conclusions.
Always wound me up after chatting to the auditor about stuff in RAG he said it usually comes in red, gets massaged a bit then goes to amber at the next level, gets massaged a bit more so the final result seen is always green as in 'nothing to see here'.
Not sure how people can make informed decisions if they are given duff info.

I daresay, but who was going to call who racist? And why would they need to worry about it? These are important questions because unless they are answered and the underlying problems revealed and solved there won't be any forward progress.

Number of victims increased to over 1500 recently. The National Crime Agency outline where they are at hunting down the suspects explaining that a number of cases are due in court this year and their team are expanding in order they can deal with the volume of material and evidence.

Who’s investigating the failures though? This is just doing what should have been done by the police at the time.

Very interesting talk and of course it is a very real problem that is now getting the attention and action it needed all those years ago.

I'm pleased he does make the distinction between the front line workers who continually identified and raised the problems and those that made the decision to cover it all up. It is often the social worker or police officer that is blamed, but the senior management, organisational culture and political landscape is where the problem lies.

Just pointing out it’s a really old story.

To add would white abusers be lumped together as white or Christians?

I find it interesting that when child abuse is mentioned it suddenly becomes acceptable to form a lynch mob, or call for someones murder.
IANAL, but the penalty for murder is worse than for child abuse. Our laws classify murder as a worse crime than child abuse.
So calling for someones death for child abuse make you worse than them?

Which is irrelevant in the context of that video.

We have been pichhforking people into prison recently for child abuse committed forty years ago. The time is irrelevant.

Your presumably innocent comment conflating skin colour and religion (white & christian) is a big part of the problem. The colour of one's skin is an accident of birth, and nothing any of us can do about it. There are millions of British people with a different colour of skin than me who are more British than I am.

Religion is a lifestyle choice, Muslim, Christian or other. It's optional, like being a member of a biker gang, or a West Ham supporter. Not all christians are white and not all muslims are brown. So I think the proper question is would society or the media "lump together" members of a particular voluntary group, within which a significant number of members were colluding and committing atrocities against children with impunity?

In reality I am beyond that certain age. We have to remember that in the 90's and early 00's the nation was still living in the shadow of the 80's race riots in Tottenham, Brixton, Bristol, Manchester, Liverpool, Birmingham..... and there definately was a potential tinder keg, and the authorities rightly learned to tread lightly. It is a fact of life that some parts of some communities took advantage of that situation.

Thankfully in the second half of the teens it seems that we have moved on and there has been much improvement. But the fact that it happened 10 years ago doesn't make it right, or absolve some in authority at the time for turning blind eyes, they should be held accountable. Some of them have more blood on their hands than Rolf Harris or Dave Lee Travis. What happened to those children was horrific.

I don't think religion is a lifestyle choice for those indoctrinated in it from birth. It must be very hard to reject that.

I haven't seen any indication that anybody from any of the authority agencies involved have been prosecuted. Teenage girls of course are often a pain in the arse, refusing to accept safeguarding, want to put themselves in danger and it's not as though you can lock them up.

It seems a lot of these kids were in authority care. I wonder what happened in the case of the abused girl from Essex sent to Rotherham? under authority care costing £250k/year., the cost seems insane. I presume they wanted to remove her from a risky situation at home only send her to an even more risky situation elsewhere.
