Last night I prepared some pizzas for our tea. I was surprised to open a box and see 2 of these new style pizzas that look like pies.
They are new to me. I have discussed this with the wife. She says they are hardly new and are all the rage.

I'm in two minds myself I think they are not real pizzas. My wife thinks its time I tidied up the garage as she stubbed her toe on some weights I had put in there. Ive explained that had she worn proper shoes rather than the open toe things she would have not suffered any discomfort.

Didn't Pizza Hut have the "priazzo" or something, which was a pie-like pizza? Lovely things.

Sounds like a proper deep pan pizza. Was the cheese on the top or layers with other ingredients and mainly tomato on the top?

Sounds like a Calzone and is an original Italian style of pizza.

I wouldn't call opening a box, as preparing smile

It looked like a pie. There was pastry round it. Well it seemed like pastry a bit lighter than normal maybe. Inside was the softer pizza texture thingey and on top it had salami. and other toppings.
They were about the size of 45RPM singles and maybe 3/4 inch deep.

Yep, that's a proper deep pan pizza.

Where were they from out of interest?

If I'd never encountered a calzone before, I'd describe it as a pizza pasty and not a pie.

It was originally posted in the lounge where mine and others inane ramblings are much more tolerated.
