I want to take the leven vent surrounds, silver dash buttons and gearbox surround off. I may have to leave the gearbox surround as I assume its screwed in and will leave marks, however how are the other bits put on? 3m sticky? I was thinking of heating up with a hairdryer then pulling off?? don't want to damage anything

I agree with your decision although I have the handbrake cover as the plastic one is a little naff.

Sorry can't help with the vents although I am certain that they must be stuck on.

Maybe somebody here wants to swap parts with you ? would probably be the cleanest way to do it.

My Leven dash buttons were supplied with double sided tape. When i bought the vent surrounds, i was told to use airfix glue as they would pop off easily. If i needed to remove them.

Will try applying some heat to see if that works. If not I may have to leave on

I can see with your dash why you would want to change it out. I have a pre-serp with black dials and surrounds, so Leven kit wouldnt look right on mine either...

For the solid aluminium parts - why not take them off and get them black anodised? I have seen one full resto that black anodised all the ally parts - it looked really mean.

Mono filament line (fishing line) is good for removing anything that has been stuck down with double-sided tape when you can get behind the metal to the tape so should work on the vents, the buttons are more problematic. This method doesn't damage the substrate.

My aluminium and brass button covers were a snug push fit, didn't need adhesive and never came off by accident...
