Trying to Order an F90 M5 (Waiting Time)
Discussion
Some of the larger BMW groups are quoting a 12-18mth waiting list. If what i was told is correct, most dealers will have long since sold their 2018 & well into 2019 allocation as supply is to a degree limited.
I had a day 1 car on order, but cancelled 3 weeks ago, so the next in line who would have been waiting until July/August will now get theirs at the end of April.

I've got an order in for a May delivery. Still undecided whether to go ahead or not. With a decent spec price gets close to 95k. I got one of the first f10 m5s and then watched as the price tumbled.
Got to make my mind up tomorrow.
Can you sell your position in he queue so making a mating for you for simply pressing the button early and deposit down? Or is it a no no for BMW...Got to make my mind up tomorrow.
Surely nobody is going to sucked into ‘12-18 month waiting list’. DP told me some production hold ups and cars running a couple of months behind. So far they have only been given initial allocation but more are to be released/confirmed mid year. Given the deals on E63s and alternatives, why will things be any different this time on discounts/car production? Granted this was 3 weeks ago and things may have moved on, but I was offered a car for early summer with a reasonably high single figure discount. Fair play to anybody with name down, get in early, enjoy it, etc, but anybody who pays a premium will undoubtedly pay a heavy cost 18 months down the line imo.

Although we all know Car Dealers like to exaggerate, why would they lie about waiting lists?? Customer walks in with £90k in a briefcase, dealer says no car for 12-18mths, i'd say that's pretty conclusive as if was BS then surely said dealers would miraculously find a car/allocation slot.Am somewhat regretting cancelling my 1st slot order, as bought into the negative hype that these cars had no real waiting list & it was dealer/BMW BS, turns out after all it was true.

I think you would find that taking £90k cash to the car dealer would result in you being shown the door...I think the maximum they will take cash nowadays is between 2-5k for money laundering reasons...
Happy to be wrong but a few years ago I was going to pay cash and the dealer hated the idea, said he would not accept it and if he did he would like to charge me a fee for counting and security...
Tis a strange world.

Agreed, but the analogy i felt was correct. If a genuine buyer walks into a BMW M dealer with the funds/approval to proceed with the £90-100k purchase, no dealer is going to lie & say that no car or allocation is available. Would be a strange business model to turn genuine buyers away.I think the maximum they will take cash nowadays is between 2-5k for money laundering reasons...

Don’t think they are lying about waiting list, simply stating that they have no additional allocation at the moment. This is exactly the same as happened with the M2, with additional slots being released by BMW and people suddenly finding cars appearing quicker and more readily then the hype of scarcity led them to believe. This is not a limited edition production car. I think the last two M5’s were registered at a rate of c600 per year into the UK. Across c100 dealers in the UK this works out at 6 per dealership. My regular Cooper dealership told me they been allocated 4 plus demo for current year, so roughly in line with previous. If there is more demand than previously, I would have thought BMW will simply build more cars as they don’t give a hoot about protecting values for the early adopters imo.Am somewhat regretting cancelling my 1st slot order, as bought into the negative hype that these cars had no real waiting list & it was dealer/BMW BS, turns out after all it was true.

Of course he did. He's an advertisement board, not an owner.
He is based in Germany also, not here. However, am I the only one that finds him really annoying?
He’s the sorry of person you want to say........just f-off, no really, f-off.
Thanks for the reply, I wasn't really implying that the dealer was lying, I just wanted to know if this was a normal situation for an M car, it seems it is.
Having looked a bit deeper in to it, its because of the spec. Some of the options I have listed are not going in to production until November, so effectively my wait starts from there. I have been told, that there will be a number of people who will pull out, and I should come forward a bit.
Cant wait to get a demo, that should be fun

Has this arrived sooner than expected? I recall the Competition Pack only being available 3 years after the introduction of the F10 M5?
