Training stamina, 55 yr old
Discussion
Guys, anybody else been through this, although I'm fine with cv work (do a 10k row 1-2 times a week, and get out on the mountain bike for a couple of hours). I'm finding that im struggling with stamina in the gym. I was doing a 5 x 5 sort of routine until I picked up a couple of injuries, for the last year I have been training 2-3 times a week with a split routing, this was chest / shoulders / tri, and legs / back /biceps, with some core work on each day. I was finding that by the time I got to biceps and triceps I had pretty much run out of energy, so changed to a 3 day split of legs / biceps, chest / triceps, back and shoulders, but if some weeks I only get into the gym twice it feels like a long time before I train the same body part again.
Typically I train mid morning after a porridge breakfast and have 2 or 3 poached eggs on toast for lunch.
Is this the inevitable "march of time" or is there any advice to get my mojo back?
