Interesting, you would think Amex would cover it , but as they have gone into administration is it a case or tough titty ! I would start a claim back now , Amex won’t have paid maplin yet so I would think you should be ok ! Get the NAS elsewhere , you will have no warranty soon , if anyone buys them it will be a pre -Pack deal and the new owner will ditch all liability

I have ordered some components of low value but don't expect them until tomorrow at the earliest. I assumed that a receiver was running the company.

Maplin are still trading so I'd expect you'll get the goods but they're probably having issues with their couriers who understandably will want to be sure they're going to get paid.

If you purchased this after the administrator was appointed (which I presume you did from your OP) then your contract is with the business in administration and backed up by the administrator. Effectively a line is drawn at the time of appointment and you're the correct side of that line.

If they cannot deliver they will have to give you a refund, backed up by PwC who take on the post appointment liabilities.

[Yes I know the contract is technically with Amex as the item was goods > £100 but I am answering the question I think you're really asking, If push really came to shove you'd be covered under a s75 claim]

Not unless the OP used an Amex credit card. If he used a standard charge card he won't be covered and will have to go through the Amex chargeback claim process.

^ It's one of these. Credit card, not a debit. Thanks.

I didn't say or suggest it was a debit card. I was pointing out that the Amex core product is a charge card which is not a credit card or a debit card and isn't covered by the CCA.

Id give them atleast 14 days to deliver, they aren't amazon and one of the reason they went out of business is because of the woeful delivery system they use.

Maplins are financially in the edge, maybe their suppliers are reluctant to supply and their courier bill has not been paid?

Does anyone know if their stores are still trading, and if so, do they still hold much stock?

I want to get some bits and bobs, and dont want a wasted journey...

TIA.

Of the two near me, one is still quite full of stock (probably as prices are still stupidly high, despite any discounts). The other resembles a 1990's Russian supermarket, they're even selling the shelving.

I popped into their store in Bromley yesterday and it was still reasonably well stocked.

Their closing down reductions are quite poor so they're not shifting stock very quickly. 20-40% off their original prices just makes it the same price as Amazon on most things.

Cheers, I'll make a detour and pop into my local one on the way home. I want half a dozen different bits and bobs (mainly short extension cables for usb/ethernet/hdmi for a project) but I'm not sure what I want until I see it!

Got a box of Alkaline long life batteries, 40 AA and 20 AAA so 60 batteries, £19.99 reduced to £4.50.

How is a charge card not a credit card?

Because its directly charged and you receive no credit.... you don't get the option to pay interest and leave the amount unpaid for a period.
