Hi all

I want to buy addresses based on distance from a postcode. My business is extremely localised, so if I take on a customer at a particular address, I would like to mailshot for example another 100 addresses in the area.

Hand delivering the mailshot myself or by one of my team is a no-go so want to buy the addresses in, somehow attach them to the mailshot and send out

Linked to this, does anyone know the best way to attach the bought address list to printed mail cards. I have tried iMail and they are not any good. They obviously put so much through to Royal Mail that RM process it through a automated machine(s) which smudge down the middle of the card, each and every time I have tested it.

I would be happy, at a push, to print the addresses to stick labels and stick them on cards and then post them myself although would prefer not to

Thanks in advance

Find a printer with a colour digital printing press. Explain what you want to do and they'll sort it out for you. If you say where you are in the uk I might know people who can do it for you. But 100 isn't many. Unless your offer and product is spectacular you won't be retiring on the responses wink

100 isn't many and its costly to use RM unless you are mailing very big numbers (and so get discounts). Perhaps look at leaflet distributors, local Facebook groups etc. Or just take them yourself, 100 won't take long to post.

TBH that's the very thing you should do. For numbers so small it's absolutely pointless getting anyone else to do it. Unless you're out in the country 100 would take what? An hour?

And the key thing for me, if you do it yourself you have the opportunity to actually speak to people. Catch someone in their driveway or at the door and your chance of a sale increases massively compared to basic leafleting.

For the sake of comparison I do some work with a double glazing firm who do leaflets (which I designed so not the usual generic ste!). 60k has has so far resulted in 3 enquiries and 1 sale. A door canvasser would get significantly higher interest.

Hi all

Sorry for the slow response - slipped through the net.

I don't think I articulated my original request as well as needed, but the problem I have isn't solved by me being on the ground delivering these myself.

The first issue I want to overcome is sourcing the data ie the addresses, in a very specific area. I want to be able to put in SW11 1AA, and it come up with a list of addresses within a radius of this.

I then want to be able to drop those onto some postcards.

Imail let me do all that, but each and every time, the leaflets are fed through some machine which puts a huge skidmark up the middle of the front of the leaflet, even on their own marketing leaflets which I have had them send to me.

So, it brings me back to just being able to get the address data and put it into the correct format to print onto labels. I can then stick these onto leaflets and send out.

Our most affluent and therefore most desired customers are the ones out in the sticks, or where the homes are not closely surrounded by others. Delivery is then more time consuming, and as we expand the area we cover, I do not want to be doing this anyway. I accept it might reduce my effectiveness, but its a price I am willing to pay.

Thanks in advance smile

If you are comfortable doing a little programming: https://postcodes.io/docs

https://api.postcodes.io/postcodes/SW1A2LW will return some JSON showing the details for the Houses of Parliament

We can extract "longitude":-0.124370370026576,"latitude":51.5013465251824 for the next query to find postcodes within X meters:

https://api.postcodes.io/postcodes?lon=-0.12437037...

This returns a bunch of JSON with all the postcodes within 50 meters. For each postcode we can get a list of addresses (you need to substitute the postcode with one returned above)

https://api.getAddress.io/find/SW1A2LW?api-key=&lt...

You will need to get an API Key for getAddress.io (available for free).

Start with the radius small and increase it until you reach your target number of addresses
