Evoque or Discovery Sport?
Discussion
Had my 2010 Kuga Titanium X for 6 years and put 110k on it.
Now looking to sell and buy something similar but 4WD.
Budget is around £20k.
I want fairly new, low mileage, all the toys.
So should I be looking at an Evoque or LR Discovery Sport?
They seem to be quite similar in style and price.

The Evoque and the DS are quite different. I have a DS, mate has an Evoque. The Evoque is more classy inside hence the RR branding, but my DS HSE Lux is reasonably close to it. The DS has more load space and there's more leg room in the back. DS also has 7 seats (not the basic DS though)
Performance wise they are about the same, the DS a tad slower maybe.
I think you need to test drive both, think about what you want the vehicle to be capable of, and then make the choice.

Thanks.
How would I know if a potential purchase had the newer engine?
Do they look different?
Did JLR stick a big label on the top?
Saw a test drive on Fith Gear last night and the guy was moaning about the engine being noisy, so presumably not the new type?
Don't know when that program was made - think it may have been a 64 plate.

I think the new ingenium engine is now available in petrol form with 240 or 300 bhp, but only available nearly new
The diesel is 2.2 (old version, used in freelander with 190bhp - not sure if a 150 bhp version was ever available) or 2.0 (new version with 150 or 180 bhp). Old version about for relatively short period - if you want to miss it out on an autotrader search, put engine size max 2.0 litre

You're right - I was thinking 6 cylinder. P250 and P300 available now.The diesel is 2.2 (old version, used in freelander with 190bhp - not sure if a 150 bhp version was ever available) or 2.0 (new version with 150 or 180 bhp). Here's my is my opinion having owned both.
Petrol evoque in dynamic spec 240 bhp, very quick and surprises a lot of drivers it was a 3 door which are very big in tight spaces, some issues with the trim etc but handled and went well and looked great in 3 door form.
DS in HSE spec 2.0 180 bhp diesel, very good car and easy to hussle along quickly and handles well for the size of car. had a few issues with the turbo etc all repaired for free. Very practical a bit like a swiss army knife.
Overall I would say the DS, better to see out off and more practical space as the back seats move back and forth, for more boot space or rear legroom
