Had my CGTS for a week bounce

I set up Individual setting with Sport enable, Auto start/stop disabled, PSE disable. I notice when I switch from Normal to Individual a noticeable (nice - let's not start a how bad the 718 sounds discussion wink ) change in the engine note. PSE is off, when I enable PSE the note changes again.

What's that about?

Is it a change in sound, or is it just the idling speed changing? I think the variables are idle speed and the exhaust valves themselves.

Higher tickover? Increased fuelling?

Sport mode will change the fuel map and that will account for a difference in the exhaust tone I would suspect.

Noticed it during idle ... will check next time I go out if it changes whilst driving

I do not have PSE but am pretty sure that I have noticed a similar effect in my Cayman S with Sport Chrono. The exhaust note becomes slightly louder and more edgy in Sport without any further change in Sport+, all at similar revs.

sound symposer? it's a tube that directs more engine noise in to the passenger compartment

They're GTS specific and always "open", so I doubt it's that.

The exhaust increases in volume and characteristics in sport mode by default (PSE will be switched on, too). It'll be considerably louder than normal and you'll get the pops and bangs as well, which neither of the other standard modes have. PSE will just give you a bit more volume and exaggerate the pops and bangs a bit.

Really? I was sure it was 981 GTS specific. I stand corrected...

The tube is from the airbox and fitted behind the driver. The sound is air induction not engine noise.
Only fitted as standard to gts,s so may be have been retrofitted to a s . I have seen a thread where the guy fitted it himself. This is on a 981 so unsure if the 718 has this setup?
Have you physically seen the pipe? As it's not visible and unless you pull the car apart youd never know?
