St. George's day?
Discussion
- On St. Patrick's day, the Irish (and lots of other people for some reason) get all patriotic and get p1$$ed.
- On St. David's day the Welsh get all patriotic and get p1$$ed.
- On St. Andrews day the Scots get all patriotic and get p1$$ed. (Actually, the Scots must think its St Andrew's day every day

- On St. George's day the Enlish....
.....do absolutely nothing
The only time any of the English ever get patriotic is when it comes to football violence. A tiny minority think this is a good thing while the vast majority find this shameful and embarrassing?
Why are we the only part of the UK that doesn't have any pride in our nation?

Unfortunately so. As part of the social engineering project instigated by Labour, the 'majority' must be completely homogenised to make them more effective worker drones. This means no identities, no enthusiasms, no interests. Mix political correctness in with that, so everyone who isn't counted as the 'majority' gets kowtowed to and put un a pedestal, and you can see that, in the case of St. George's Day, they've succeeded.
Its a shame isnt it?
We have such a fantastic heritage & its frowned upon if we try to celebrate the fact.
Im happy to join in celebrations of all cultures & creeds, thats what living in a multi clutural society is all about.
In Lewisham where I have my business, people have been forced to remove the flag of St George by the authorities because they fear it will provoke racial tension - Im quite sure (almost) everyone would join in the celebrations given the opportunity whatever their background or race.
Perhaps a bit of pride in our nation is what we need.
Or is that not the 'correct' thing to say?

Actually I've just been in York and they've got bands, bunting and flags, but it all seems a bit...
...yes, 'dictated' is the word. I just get the idea that if this was Spain or France we'd be having a street party and a national holiday, and if it was Germany or Belgium there'd be free beer for all.
However, on the news last night, there was a local MP who was saying that he was 'trying to introduce an Amsterdam-style 'cafe culture'' by pedestrianising Hull. I never knew that indigenous cultures were introduced by politicians with anti-car schemes. Just like these people who set out to 'make' things 'socially unacceptable'.
Got to get an early night tonight for Cars In The Park tomorrow, but I think I'll get the best of British by watching Doctor Who and From Russia With Love, methinks.

You should have been where I have just spent the day, at Wrest Park Bedfordshire where there was a huge St Georges day celebration. Loads of people, loads of flags flying, children dressed up as St. George, arena's full of different displays from Norman, Medieval, 18th Century Napolionic era reinactments, medieval horseback displays, Falconry (inlcuding an amazing Large European Eagle Owl) through to the final George Vs the Dragon display. Plus food, drink & fun. To hear all the children cheering St. George and waving the flag as he entered the arena was certainly something to show the militant liberal wishy washy councils who ban these kind of displays of national pride what it really should be like. God bless Albion and the Queen etc.....
Although perhaps we should/could also be celebrating St. Edmund's day on November 20th as he was the patron Saint of England until it changed to St George in the 14th Century.
Ps.On St. Patrick's day I did nothing, on St. Andrew's Day I did nothing and on St. David's day I did nothing.

Personally i prefer the subdued celebrations that George gets rather than the commercialised pissup that Patrick gets.
AFAICT The whole St Patrick’s Day pi** up thing is an invention of the Guinness marketing department that started up in the early 1990’s. At least outside of Ireland anyway.
A bit like Mothers Day, Fathers Day and Valentines Day were invented by the gift card companies.
FWIW I’m in Barcelona ATM. St George is also the patron saint of Catalonia (amongst other places) and the whole place is going barmy ATM.
