Mrs. Nitrous needs a bluetooth speaker to play music for exercise classes. We tried my Echo2 tonight, and she needs a bit more volume, but not a huge amount. The big system she used to use for Zumba is OTT (and installed in my manshed anyway); its more for background music for yoga and elderly classes than heavy metal tinnitus experience. i don't understand how you compare sound output nowadays, since they stopped the wattsRMS approach.
What suggestions have you got? There's such an array available!

How loud do you need?

My missus is in the process of buying one for a baby music class she runs

We liked
Bose Revolve +
B&O Beolit 17
The big JBL Extreme thingy
Zipp Libratone Copenhagen

none of the UE ones were much good

These were all powerful enough to fill a hall, but on full volume you could still talk over them (just about)

If you want something really powerful then Aiwa do the Exos-9 which i've not been able to try but by all reports its a total beast

Bose Soundlink Mini - small but the sound is very impressive and can go very loud

I disagree with an earlier poster, and my opinion of the EU speaker I have is, that it’s fantastic, it was also strongly recommended by the sales guy at John Lewis, who also stock all the other major brands, too.

I bought mine at Costco, which were a lot cheaper smile

couple of options below, avoid anything UE (boom, megaboom etc) they are awful and sound tinny as soon as you turn them up!:

Good price and quality

Loud, clear, bassy:

Power, quality:

Loud and excellent portability:

Thanks for the suggestions. Time for some test drives I think.
I do get the whiff of bullst from B&O - "The use of authentic materials and carefully curated colours allow you to mix and match B&O PLAY products with effortless style." "available in a Nordic-inspired black colour that is right on trend."

Yeah the B&O marketing is bks and I am sure put a lot of people off what are actually an exceptional range of Bluetooth speakers.

Go and have a listen.

Any comments about the Samsung R5? It looks a good candidate from what i saw in John Lewis - its a pity they don't have somewhere that you can listen to them other than the shop floor.
