BMW E36 Alarm System Siren.....

Hello all,
Just wondering if anyone knows how to dismantle the BMW alarm siren?
I bought an E36 coupe but the previous owner had lost the alarm key and had switched it off. I want to turn the siren back on again but with no key, i'm thinking the only way is to drill out the lock or open up the unit and replace the barrel key.
Does anyone have any ideas (including how to open the damn thing as i've been trying all day!)
