I'll shortly be buying a set of tyres for a 996 GT3 Mk.2.....use will be a split between sunny weekend blasts and the odd track day.

First, sizes! Is there a benefit in fitting 295/30 18's on the rear over the standard 285's?

Next, N-rated or not? Highly unlikely I'll be maintaining a Porsche warranty so no real benefit in fitting N-rated tyres - plus they don't do N-rated Cups in the sizes I need.

I'll probably stick to Michelin so it's a choice between Cups and PS2/3's? Recommendations welcome - my initial thought is to go with Cup 2's.

Lastly, who's doing the best deals? I'll probably mail order them and get my OPC to fit.

Ta!

Erm - on the 996 mk2 the 295 is the standard size (285 was the mk1). Should be 235 on the front too (mk1 was 225)

Cup 2 and ignore the N rating would be my recommendation.

+1 Cup 2 in standard sizes.

Don't think N spec is an option in 996 sizes?

Thank you.

Don't collect the car until the weekend and the tyre companies were telling me 285's based on the reg I provided. I had noticed that when searching for info most of the posts mentioned 295's, hence my question.

Think 285 is the mk1 size.
Mk2 is defo 235 and 295...any less and the car will turn itself back into a pumpkin! smile

Yep. As above. I’d go 295/235 Cup2’s
