boot gas strut
Discussion
Can anyone help please as I think I'm going mad.
Boot strut so weak it won't hold the boot up, bought a replacement.
How on earth do you get the old one off?! I assume it would come out of the ball joint with a few taps...
I've just beaten the crap out of mine and nothing!... It wont come off!!
and that's the one I can get the hammer on to, lord knows about the other one that faces the actual boot.
Pictures for your amusement!
Any help gratefully received!

You need to remove the clips first.
It's a wire type clip at one end that you can see hanging half out in the photo, at the other end it's a sprung collar type clip which I can also see in your photo.
Stop hitting it!
You'll never get the strut out until you've removed the two different types on clips at each ball end.
