Right... small boot... large tagra roof...

ok managed to fit roof in boot... but only after removing spare wheel...

According to the bible it it fits......(pics dont help)

Arghhhhhhh .... I reckon my neighbours are laughing big time the amount of time I have spent on this

Its not easy is it?

Many people, myself included, take out the spare & carry a couple of cans of tyre weld.

It makes the job much easier & you can regain your street cred with the neighbours as the roof slips in the boot in seconds

if it's anything like my car it won't fit when the spare wheel is strapped in.

if so you need to unstrap the spare wheel and put the tool kit inside the spare then push the spare wheel right up into the corner as far as it will go.

then angle the roof section left hand lowest corner (as you stand looking into the boot with the cloth side facing inwards towards the petrol tank) into the far left corner and scoop it into the boot down and towards the rear of the car - the right hand side only just misses the boot seal by less than many thousandths of a mm!.

it does all go in, when my wife and I wen't to Le Mans two years ago we had a 2 man tent, sleeping bags, clothes for a week, 2 folding chairs, tools, and a small gazebo tent and the roof section in the boot!

Reckon ole P.W. was pi55ing himself with laughter when he realised just how much angst and embarrasment this puzzle would cause for the next 50 years to succesive owners. Sad really that the two section jobbie going to put an end to the antics.

Its easy when you have the knack, it only took me a year to get the hang of it, just in time to demonstrate to the new owner

Hmmmmm..... need to get a strap for spare wheel... ohhhh someone mentioned tool kit just realised I don't have one... no jack/ wheel brace or any thing.... Hmmmmmmmmm

Well I can't work it....... so I'll leave it to seasoned hand to show me some time

It will fit, honest, even with the spare fitted.

Pick up with the inside towards you and the notch that locates at the screen top downwards. Thread the left had side in and push fully to the left, right will now drop in. Before closing check that the hinge mechanisms clear either side

The little buggers are all different.

My last Griff had a great roof. Went in the boot easily and I could put it on the car as quickly as it took me to walk around it.
The new one is a git.
Doesn't like being put in the boot and I'm sure it puts up a fight. Likewise being on the car. It took me 15mins in the rain last week to refit the damned thing.

You have my sympathy.

had the same prob when I brought my griff,
I got quinnie to show me at the Growl,
Took my spare out the boot and got 2 cans of tyre weld best way I think

Ohhh so glad it aint just me.... still can't fit it in with another 30mins of play today...

Fitting on the car is so easy.... both doors open.... slot in at windscreen... pop up back and then straighten metal bits..... whop bang bo... roof on..

I just want to get it in the boot with out undoing the spare

Again, this is a nightmare - the way I do it is to take the spare out, put the roof in and then put the spare back in last (on top of the roof) so at least if you do get a puncture, you're still able to get home!

& What do you do with the wheel you take off? i know Mrs S would not be happy with it sitting on her lap

Indeed - it won't go in the boot. I can manage a pair of 16" track day rears on the passenger seat (well wrapped) but that kind of precludes having anyone else in the car

Tyre weld and a big wodge of phone numbers in the glove box for me

I can just about fit the panel in the boot, but it's a pain to fit anything else in there afterwards. I have contemplated removing the spare.
