I'm trying to find out if there was a specific name for the magnolia that Tvr used, apart from the obvious.
I am going to have a go at recolouring some seats I have acquired, I spoke to furniture clinic who said there are lots of magnolias, so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Remove/ cut out a 1" squared piece, in original condition, from somewhere inconspicuous like under the seat. Send this to FC and they can colour match it using their Photospectrometre.

As above, although I'm pretty sure it's Jaguar magnolia

I rang and spoke to Furniture Clinic back in November when I was after a kit for my car. during their 'Black Friday' (spit) sale.

The person I spoke to insisted Jaguar magnolia wasn't a match, possibly to persuade me that I need to send a piece for matching, which they charge extra for.

Woolies Trim include colour matching in their price and the fact that you apply it by hand rather than spray (my preference), are cheaper, and I discovered that the FC customer phone line had been a premium number mad made the choice for me.

Anyone restoring leather should include colour matching in the job, it's the most critically important part of the job! I certainly don't charge, but in fairness I don't supply pigment, I do the work.

Spray (ideally after a 'contact' primer) is the correct way to apply pigment FWIW. It's how the colour is put on in the tannery. Some roll colour on, but the finish isn't as perfect IMO. I also practice what I preach; I have applied this method to our very pricey Ekorns Cinema suite after kitten scratched it.

I appreciate spraying on is the professional way it is done, but I read so many threads about people running out of air and having to buy more, or hiring compressors, I thought hand applied would do for me. Especially as mine are only half leather so I only had to do the fronts. Splitting the seats apart helped too.

The FC kits seem a bit small too. They insisted the small kit wouldn't be enough but I think it would have been for half leather. I bough the small Woolies Trim kit and still have half of the pigment left after several coats. A good match too. You don't get a choice of surface finish with the sealant though (matt / gloss etc). Incidentally in the information that came with it, it says with the right equipment you can spray it on anyway.

Overall, I'm pleased with the result. That's my experience anyway.

If it's worked for you and you're happy then that really is all that matters. I can't comment on the size of the FC kit, but IME half a cup approx of pigment is more than enough to refinish two seats.

I cut off a piece from the back of the seat behind the trim where the leather wraps round and is secured (you can't see it when the seat was reassembled) and sent it to Woolies.

The pigment arrived with the bottle marked as TVR Magnolia 29470. This may be their code though but it may help. There may be more than one shade!

Thanks for the info I was hoping to do it without having to send a sample, I will give them a call and see what they say.

Over the years I’ve seen more than one shade of magnolia in Chims.
Best send a patch.

They physically need a piece of leather to read the colour. They can't work off a colour code, as there will be slight variances between batches. The only way to avoid cutting a swab out is to take the car to them or send them the seat. There could also be a lose swab tied somewhere to the underside of the seat, for this very reason.

When I recoloured my cerb seats to match my magnolia / Prussian blue interia, I ordered samples from this site and used them to get a colour match from furniture clinic.

https://www.segalmotortrimmings.net/index.php/faux...

Ended up with a very good match. Also ordered some of the Prussian Blue to replace the carpet material on the door cards, but haven’t got round to re trimming them yet.
