Griffith Targa?

In the '92 brochure for the Griffith - it has prices for a Griffith Convertible and a Griffith Targa?

Presumably a targa is like a T-top? What is this Griffith?

A targa is traditionally a top with a rigid roof panel, which sits between the windscreen and a fixed 'roll bar'.

The Griffith is half way there already - it has a rigid roof panel; if the rear folding part of the hood was replaced by a rigid moulding (like on the Tuscan S), then it would qualify as a Targa.

AFAIK, TVR never actually manufactured this option. Probably very little demand, since the standard folding hood arrangement works so well and gives the best of both worlds.

Actually, I think - and I might be wrong - that originally as well as the targa roof/folding rear which made it to prodcution, a full convertible was on the cards - but never got to reality. Shame as it'd save five minutes messing around in the boot every time the sun's out.

Ahh, this would explain why an insurance company once tried to persuade me that my Griff was either a Targa or a convertible. Took ages to convince the bloke that there was only one model of Griff.
