I'm currently going through my late parents things and have a vase i need valuing and have hit a bit of a brick wall. My grandfather bought it whilst in Germany after the war. I have managed to trace the manufacture from the mark to be "Cortendorf Porzellanfabrik" or "Julius Griesbach" but cannot find anything similar to my piece.

The additional markings include "25" and "751-53" and looks like 4 naked ladies on a flower.

Does anyone have any suggestions on where to go next?

Find a local auctioneers and see if they do 'valuation days'. They should be able to give you more detail on value etc.

Old antique dealer trick. If you flick the rim of the vase with your finger, and listen to the noise it makes, that will tell you it's origins.

So, if you flick it and it goes "taaang", it's the Tang dynasty, worth hundred of thousands. If it goes "Miiiing", it's the Ming dynasty. Everyone knows about Ming vases, worth millions.

From what you've described, I suspect your one may go "Arrrgos"

Julius Griesbach was the founder of Cortendorf Porzellan Fabrik (Cortendorf Ceramic Works) in 1890.

You can find Cortendorf stuff for sale in Germany but it is very much the German equivalent of wing’d horses, prices seem to be around the € 200.00 mark max for prancing horses and dogs sculptures, naked ladies fetching much more. No vases to see so maybe these are very rare and possibly very expensive.

You could try to sell it on German ebay. I sometimes offer original art or stuff I consider valuable on ebay: no reaction. Then I put some crap on and bids go all over the place so you never know. I think you need to be in Germany/ Austria to find someone who really appreciates your vase.

Why not keep it as a gentle memory of your parents?

Notice the use of the number 4 in this verse. There are 4 angels, standing at the 4 corners of the earth, holding back the 4 winds. The number 4 in the Bible is often used in association with the physical things of this earth.

The angels are “holding back” the four winds, not allowing for the destruction described in the sixth seal to happen until certain things take place. This is a figurative description of God delaying the destruction of the earth until he accomplishes His purpose.

These are not my words but literally taken from: http://www.scripturessay.com/a-study-of-revelation...

I would like to stick such a story to this statue if I had it at home.

That's certainly....

Striking.

I suspect insurance possibly isn't a massive concern. Not for theft at least.

Perhaps stick it on one of the Travellers buy and sell facebook pages. Probably find a good home on there.
