Porsche Cayman 211hp or BMW i8?
Discussion
Good day!
I’m 29 years old and I’m buying a new car in the following months. I’ve been looking at the Porsche Cayman - 2014. With 211hp (norwegian/belgian version due to taxes). Which holds quite high value in the Norwegian market, even after the 718, 300hp has arrived. At the moment there are two of them for sale. One costs 64.000 GBP and has clocked 9000km. The other one costs 59.000 GPB, but has gone 43.000km. Both with the correct extra equipment.
But then I noticed that the second-hand value on i8’s has dropped to the ground. I can get a 2015 i8 with 35.000km for 70-72.000 GBP here in Norway now. And the cost of insurance is around the same as for the Porsche.
Both me and people I’ve spoken to have had some concernes for the low power in the 211hp Cayman. They say it’s marginal difference from the 275hp version, and Cayman S isn’t an option for me due to the insurance costs that will bring.
Has anyone experience with both these cars and can give me their pro’s and con’s? And is it risky to buy the i8 with regards to even more drop in value in the future? That applies to the Porsche aswell, will it possibly get a huge hit in value when second-hand 718 cars will start to come to the market.
Long post, but I would appreciate all the help and opinions I can Get.
Best regards
Lasse
