Im looking for some guidance on the merits of importing Saudi Spec GT3 9(3.8), Ive owned the car in Qatar for a while, and I've decided to return to UK soon. Question is do i sell it , or bring it home?

I really like the car, its got 17,000Km, and a good spec, selling it here is option, but in a country where everyone has at least 2 supercars(Qatari nationals i mean) the values are low (remember theres no tax here on new cars, so the initial prices are lower) and the locals are buying the 991.2 now.

i would use the car as a track car in UK, so LHD doesn't bother me that much

so thoughts,

Whats it really worth in UK in the resale market

and how hard is it to register /Import duties etc, Ive been out for a while and have no idea.

Thanks

You should be able to import it into the UK without duty/import as a returning resident (assuming you're returning etc). Note that HMRC will put a 12 months restriction on the sale unless you pay the duty if you do sell within those first 12 months.

HMRC ToR: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/applica...

I shipped over my LHD 997 from Dubai last August. No issues at all and it's now UK registered. Friend of mine (and fellow PH'er) did the same with his Merc G55 from Dubai as well, again no issues for him.

Resale in Europe will be better than the UK for sure.

Thread here of another chap discussing it as well: https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...
