My Mum has decided that she wants to trade her car in, she has found three cars that she likes:

Would anyone be able to give me advice on these cars, I have read that the 1.0T in the Focus is supposed to be great. But she has had a Vauxhall before and really likes them, I like the Elite model as it comes with some great kit.

Thanks

The 1.0T in the focus is a really great little engine. The old gen astra is also not as good as the latest one which is supposed to be quite good, but as a vauxhall-hater I will say that the focus is probably better built, definitely more fun to drive and probably more reliable in the long term

Had a 1.0 Fcous since late last year, and can't fault it. It's not the last word in frugality but it's respectable enough. Loads of kit too.

Does that website have overall prices on it?? If it those monthly prices are over 5 years then I'd look around, as my facelifted Titanium spec was cheaper than the facelifted Zetec on there, and that was from a Ford dealer...

Been looking at these for a mate recently and the first Focus can be had for around £8-9k so I'd say that paying over £11k over 5 years is paying over the odds. Can't see where they state the cash price.

Is the 1.0T powerful enough for the Focus (I guess the turbo gives it a bit more power than a standard 3 cylinder 1.0 engine)? I remember people saying the gen 1 Focus should've had the 1.8 engine as standard, not the 1.6. I reckon the Focus will be more reliable over a period of a few years smile

0-60 is 11 secs iirc but feels a little quicker. However is cheap on tax, fuel and more importantly is a petrol so no DPF issues if only doing low mileage.

Having taken what people have said onboard, my Mum has decided on the Focus, any idea om what spec is the best?

Go for the Titanium spec rather than Zetec. If you can stretch to the facelifted version then amongst other things you get the much nicer Sync2 system rather than Sync1.

Titainum X is the best spec.
