Seems to be a bitsa - but then even the name is that, since the SS 2 was not called a "Jaguar".
Parts of it may well be SS 2 but the radiator is from a 1½ litre Jaguar (the clue is what's written on it) as are the Girling brakes and possibly the gearbox (might also have been used on the SS 2, but I don't think so).

I wondered about the 1.5ltr bit, but googel suggests later cars were 1608cc, but I know nothing!

Looks like a nice project, its on prewarcar asking £12500.

Most likely an SS Jaguar 1½-Litre Saloon.
The spare is propped up at the back, but you can see the well in the nearside wing where it should be.

Yes, I spotted those. the rear trunk looks out of place.

I also wondered if its a bitsa, if not, the seller would have done the work to get a current V5 and try and substantiate some history.

It it's an SS Jaguar 1½-Litre Saloon, something like this:



(N.B. this is a later 1939 car, without the side-mounted spare)

That side-valve motor is not 1½ litre Jaguar - that had an o.h.v. 4-cylinder, albeit effectively a converted sidevalve like the other SS Jaguars of the time.
