Got myself a 981 GTS...

Picked this up today... First thoughts, noisy little bugger! Super impressed and loving the PDK, pleasant change from my 987 Spyder and GT4. I’d forgotten how good a box it is, I’ve been stuck down the ‘real men only drive manuals’ hole for too long...
I’d also forgotten how much of a big jump there was in terms of build quality between the 987 and 981, worlds apart...

Congratulations - a proper GTS! I hope you enjoy it as much as we do ours. Three years on and I still get a thrill every time I drive it. Sadly I don’t have experience of GT4, but i’d be surprised if the GTS is any noisier? Although of course you get full surround sound with the roof down!

Looks very nice, and the right time of year to pick up a convertible.
I am surprised you think the 981 is better built than the 987 though!
Whether or not 981 is better built than 987 is debatable but I’d agree that 981 is better finished having had both 987 Boxster (x2) and Cayman. Look no further than the interior, a nicely finished centre console rather than the cheap and nasty plastic moulding in 987. Always hated that, would look nasty even in a Dacia!I am surprised you think the 981 is better built than the 987 though!

A Cayman GTS is quite a bit noisier than a GT4 - more fizzing and induction, at least from the inside. Overrun pops are more dramatic too.

Awesome car, lovely pics.
I'm a new owner of a 2014 plate 981 Cayman GTS (manual). It's more than I could ever need in a sports car. Utterly sublime drive, soundtrack, and sensuous/curvy looks. The Boxsters are gorgeous-lookng as well. Porsche hit the bullseye with these cars, for my tastes.

I’m intrigued though— why the swap from the GT4....?? Was it the desire for some “top-down” motoring, the curiosity over the PDK box, or something else that you didn’t like about the 4....?? I, too, owned a 987 Spyder— absolutely loved it— although does feel a little dated next to my GT4..... But then: don’t all classics feel “dated”, almost by definition....??
