Oil & filter change normally takes 5.5 to 6lts of oil. This time it has swallowed 6.75ltrs and it still isn't full. The only difference this time was that because I was busy with other tasks I let it drain for 12 hours.

Any ideas why it appears to need a litre more than ever before?

More old oil came out this time due to the extended drain time compared to previous changes.

My thoughts too but I'm wondering what is the actual capacity when, say, fitting a new or cleaned sump.

I think your average owner finds 6.25/6.5 on an oil and filter change anyway I always have

Yes Simon, it was level for the drain and is level for refill. It's just done 30ish miles, good oil pressure and oil temperature. I'll let it settle and see how it is in the morning. I'm suspecting it'll swallow 7ltrs by the time it's topped off

Check your shoes... have you refitted the drain plug? rofl
Seriously, I have seen this happen.
Alternatively, does your measuring jug have a big dent in it? wink

Haha, I was wondering if the new oil bottle was under filled. I never thought to check, just started pouring

Did you remember to remove the dipstick from behind the steering wheel when checking the oil? It’s a serious issue on my car.......silly

Final total apporx 6.9ltrs. All appears well so I'm just going to accept that long drain period allowed more to come out

Doesn’t it mean your TVR has a 6.9 litre engine? confused

I got almost 7 litres in on one change too, I’d also left plug out for about 4 hrs.
Nice and clean smile
Funnily enough goes like a 7 litre wink
