Hi

Well, the back pipe has detached itself from the rear box on my 4.5.
Rattling and blowing, and sounds like the hole exhaust is about to fall off!!
Not ideal.
Might be repairable, don't know, but what are my options please?

I was considering a sports exhaust, until a few on here have mentioned that decat and standard back box sounds about the best. How much is a new back box please? Any ideas?

Speedo still needs sorting, also have a leak of some kind ahead of the passenger side footwell roughly, looks like a small blob of oil on the garage floor after I pull out each time.

Car is due a service, but would like some costing on an exhaust.

Thanks

Vin

think a new exhaust is £250.
You can weld back on the tail pipes.

Hmmm, maybe I will look at the welding option then.
My concern/thought is that the tails are prob attached to the baffle inside(correct me if Im wrong), and if that detach's the baffles will prob collapse inside?

How easy is it for me to take off the back box myself and take it somewhere for repair? Im assuming the dealers wont fix, they will replace?

Living is Surrey I assume you use APM for servicing?
Book in with Andy and drive it there with missing tail pipe in the boot.
He can weld it back for you OR if needed order an exhaust for you (next day delivery).

Greetings Vin, exactly the same happened to mine a week ago. Procrastinated for ages bout the sports/std dilema. I spoke to HHC/Joolz/ACT and all were about the same cost for either std/sports. In a moment of madness I opted for the sports and it arrives on Wednesday. I am sure I will have hours of fun fitting it! People say (mainly Joolz in and his infinite wisdom) that if you are going to do track days the std setup keeps the noise down and performance up. The next option is std? sports retaining the cats and then there are the purists who say decat and sports. I haven't gone that far yet so will let you know how the sports system with cats fairs.

Cheers chaps.
Where is APM? URL?
I havent had the car long, so its going for a service soon. If they can sort the pipe great, along with the other few things.

Are they competitive price wise?

Also, Racing Green are quite close, Mole Valley very (but they are PRICEY!!) Dream Machines, and Fernhursts arent all that far, any others?

APM doesnt have a web site, he is too busy working on TVRs (mostly cerbs) to have time for the web.
His tel number is on the TVR links on pistonheads. He is near Liphook just south of Haslemere.
I assure you APM is the place to take your cerb.
His hrly rate is very competitive.

To save you looking him up:-

APM Automotive
Hampshire, England
Independent TVR specialist ex hawthorns/SHG No 1 technician (Tel: 07740723673)

If you have any questions re servicing TVRs in and around surrey then email me.

Cheers Gazza, I'll give them a call tomorrow!!

Managed to adjust my clutch pedal today too, got the extra inch out of it, that turned it into a much easier car to drive, and sit in "traffic" in.

Don't forget Austec - they're in Crawley, Manor Royal, just next to Gatwick.

I've no experience of them yet (they're a friendly lot) but people seem to rate them very highly.

Ask if you can't find their contact details.

Vinny,

You could also try David Batty at the Garage in Compton and TVRFix in Epsom. Check www.oilypages.com for details.

Steve.

But David Batty isnt a cerbera expert. That is what he says (or used to say) if you go by the links on this site and Adrian Blyths site.

In all fairness David looks after a number of Cerbs and we're only talking about sorting out an exhaust here. I'm only giving Vinny options here, it's his choice not mine.

Will phone around a few, and get some prices. Wherever/whoever I take the car to, its got a couple of bits I want done, like the leak checked out, speedo sorted, exhaust fixed. And a service!!

Will let you know where it goes and the results.

Well he looks after mine and in the last four months has done an excellent job of:

- replacing a starter motor
- installing a Joospeed front disk upgrade
- replacing a clutch
- fixing a fractured bellhousing
- decatting
- some miscellaneous oil leaks

Ignoring him as an option is your own loss!

I cant find David Batty details, or TVRfix?

Im going to call around all mentioned here, to get the best price, and make my own judgement on who I will use. As they are all mentioned on this site, Im sure they are all good and can sort my Cerb out.

Will come down to cost, distance, and when I can book in. Getting on the phone to them today, so if anyone can update me on phone numbers I'd appreciate it, can't find in Oilypages!?!

Going to call

APM
Austec
DB
TVRfix

as all fairly local. What about Racing Green anyone? What are there prices and services like?
