Maserati Granturismo Sport MC Auto Shift

I collected this 2014 Maserati Granturismo Sport MC Auto Shift from fellow PH'er DougieMc on Friday and have spent most of the weekend with the windows down!
This is one cherished car and a real credit to Dougie who had owned it from new, it really i as good as when it would have sat in the showroom back in 2014. I've felt a bit guilty driving it around on damp roads but it had to be done and a quick wash this afternoon got her looking shiny again.
It is a facelift Granturismo Sport model with the MC Auto Shift box and really has a Jekyl and Hyde character depending if you have the Sport button depressed - it stiffens up the ride and opens the exhaust valves. I have had a couple of decent sounding V8's in my time but this is something else.
It feels plenty quick enough with it's 460bhp - having come from a C63 AMG (with AMG performance pack plus) putting out 487hp I was worried that it might be a little underwhelming but it plays to the senses and probably feels faster than it actually is. I suspect that the C63 and even the Golf R I had would outperform it (but that was soooo dull in comparison). I've already had two people come over when I've parked up and one even asked to take a photo!
I attach the original spec list from the showroom which came along with an array of brochures and original documentation that Dougie kept with the car. As you can see, a LOT of carbon fibre options were ticked and this, with the gloss black wheels really make it feel that bit more special.

Things I am considering for future modifications:
- H&R spacers to push the wheels out to the edge of the arches a little (need to do some research here to see if any adverse effect)
- Some alcantara retrim on cabin (centre console, binnacle, glove box, etc) like the Stradale models came with
- X-pipe (although on first weekend impression, can't see why this is needed!)
- Possibly a wrap at a future date to make it like the Bianco Fuji paint (slightly off white pearlescent that was a £7.5k opton!) or perhaps Nardo Grey for something a bit different......
The car is still under Maserati Warranty until 31/12/2018 so these may wait until after that point.
If anyone is interested I will take some interior shots and closer shots of the carbon bits (steering wheel, exhaust tips, instrument cluster, interior trim, exterior trim, etc)?
I may well take her back to the factory this summer (Dougie has already driven her to Modena and done the factory tour), just need to make friends with my local dealership to see if I can get factory tour arranged.

Nice! I really like these, and looks in tip top condition too. I am guessing compared to the C63 you have lose an element of practicality (assuming it wasn’t a C63 coupe) but probably gained on the sense of occasion?
The alcantara bits sound good, I really like a bit of alcantara dotted around. I am not so sure about the wrap though, the off white sounds nice but PLEASE not Nardo grey; every YouTuber and their nan is wrapping stuff in Nardo grey from Corsas to McLarens!!!!
If you can get OEM wrap colours, which could be an interesting point, why not something a bit more unusual and rare like Suzuka Grey -

How are you finding the gearbox? Is it auto or the robotised manual? Strangely I also have a C63 PPP and am looking to change with the maser on my list. If I'm honest I'm a tad scared of the gearbox being too 'old spec' and not smooth enough, Would be interested to hear how you get on with it. Assuming its better that the version found in the SMG M3 or Aston V8.

Thanks Dougie, awesome is a good description - I have to say that I am surprised at just how much attention it is getting, she is definitely a head turner whether this be due to the looks or perhaps the fact that I have the Sport button depressed! It was and is an awesome car.

and yes use it for what its meant for, South of France, Italy, Lemans etc etc perfect car for that kind of trip.

I have had a quote for the pearlescent wrap which comes in at £1,600 at a well respected wrap/tint company not too far from me (who have done some nice stuff before including Maserati's, Ferrari's, etc). I didn't think this was too bad and it will be cheaper if I go for a non-pearlescent finish. The alcantara bits sound good, I really like a bit of alcantara dotted around. I take the point re Nardo Grey but I think it would look OK, setting off all of the black trim and wheels nicely. I'm not convinced myself that a wrap is for me yet, as strangely I wouldn't buy a wrapped car but if I look at it as a temporary thing (12-24 months perhaps) it might make sense as it protects the underlying paint. The fitter has assured me that no blades are used which could damage paint and he uses cutting tape. I will think about it some more I think!
The C63 was an estate so yes, this is less practical, but yesterday I took out both my parents and wife for a drive, so 4 adults and there was plenty of room.
That seems incredibly good value for a full wrap, I also wouldn’t buy a ‘wrapped’ car, makes me think something is being hidden however if someone was selling a wrapped car and had a pre walkround video of it prior/during/after the wrap that would be very different - perhaps something to consider??

Very nice, great looking cars these. I can't say I'm a big fan of colour though it does look tasteful on this.
I was actually parked next to a rag top GT yesterday so had to have a quick shufti. Granturismo's seem exotic to me, I don't see many and they have a stricking presence. Certainly when compared to Aston Martin's or 911's for example which I see all the time so aren't particularly interesting any more.

Lovely car. Hired essentially the same model last weekend (2013 GT S, with all the carbon options ticked, 4.7 V8 with the auto gearbox). The car makes a great noise with the sport button pushed. Don't need to go particularly fast for a journey to be an event.
Even persuaded my (initially reluctant) wife that there needs to be space for one of these in our garage soon... so a successful weekend's hire!
