Best Mk2 TT to buy?

Any advice when it comes to buying a TT? trying to figure out what's the best value for money, planning on modifying exterior but the most i'd do to performance is a remap.

2.0 TFSI FWD - 6k
3.2 V6 AWD - 8k
2.0 TFSI AWD - 9k

Wanting to put TTS styling on the exterior but the TTS is a tad out of budget. Any advice is appreciated!

Go for the 3.2 it's got a lovely exhaust note so that would be my pick if the TTS is out of the mix.

But is the exhaust note worth an extra £280 a year in VED?
Not a great deal of extra performance over the different engine sizes.

Would have to be the V6 for me, I owned a TTS and hated the engine so cant imagine a lower powered version would be any better, it may have been better with a manual but didnt think the DSG suited it at all.

The V6 from the R32 was beautiful although the TT version doesnt sound quite as good in my opinion. Tax will be steep though.

For me it would be but I can see why it would put some people off but to be honest in terms of running costs it's not a great expense.

And just to add, from owning both, I can honestly say the Z4 Coupe is superior in every single way.


Better engine
Better MPG
Lower Tax
Better standard equipment
Bigger Boot
Better interior (SI Spec)
RWD
and for me hugely more reliable over the 2 years i owned mine

I like the look of the Z4 but never liked the ride & the short travel suspension would run out of ideas quickly, I always preferred the 350Z & if you can stretch to it OP the 370Z is a nicer step on.

Would argue the Ride was better than the Audi Mag ride in sport but yes it can be a bit firm sometimes

Love the 350z and 370z but last time i was looking at those i ended up with an E92 M3 as man maths put them in similar running cost categories with MPG and Tax, turns out i was right, my mates 350z got no more MPG than the my M3 and his went wrong a couple of times whereas my M3 appreciated by 1k

There's a Nismo 370z by me that i would own in a heartbeat though!

To be fair though that's one car I know a few people that have been bitten hard by E46 M3's (but I'd still recommend one) over the years & a lot of 350Z's that have been no trouble at all.

With any car they all have the potential to throw out a bill OP do your homework & you should be okay.

Just a heads up the road tax is different for the manual/ auto (dsg) is actually different:

3.2 V6 Manual- £520
3.2 V6 Auto/DSG- £320

I had a 3.2 V6 DSG and absolutely loved it. great exhaust note as others have said. also felt very planted when pushing on. I only got rid because I needed a slightly bigger/ more practical car.

I would absolutely go for the 3.2l with DSG, we have one and it is tremendous. As mentioned the DSG variant misses the high tax band, the gearbox is superb, the noise is glorious and it's just a really nice car all round. Frankly the 3.2 is more than quick enough so I would be uninterested in any more performance and the noise and smoothness sets it apart from any 4-cylinder models.

Agree with this.

I have a 3.2 S-tronic too.
