Getting a new hood fitted in a couple of weeks and can't decide whether to stay with red or change to black

My vote is for staying with red, black looks so ordinary.

I'm guessing the photos are just an example??

Problem with Red (or any other colour, other than Black) is that it is more difficult to refurb it as it gets old.

I used to have a Blue hood, and when I came to change I went for Black ... not a decision I have regretted.

The Renovo hood reviver works pretty well in Black, but the Blue was nowhere near as good - hence the reason for my new hood.

Perhaps a deeper red roof would suit...slight contrast but still in keeping with the overall effect..

Mine is "wild-oyster" paint..and an "antelope" roof...with "fawn" interior...(or maybe the other way round..but you get the picture)...due for a refurb soonish..and debating going the LS3 route..might think about changing the exterior colour then...but I remember looking at a lot of Griffs and deciding "only this colour" at that time...the roof matches / complements the interior..I notice you have part-red interior..thus I'm not convinced black would "work" as well...

Just my 'two-penneth worth'...

I would always go for a contrast, trouble with trying to match red is it easily fades and will probably always be almost a match but not quite.

A darker shade of beige or khaki might be OK with red, but my personal choice would be black.

Agree, I would plump for a "Burgundy" roof.

I would definitely go for Burgundy.

Just make sure you choose a decent vintage. wink

My old MX5 (OK I know its not a TVR) was a similar colour and I replaced the hood with a tan one from a BRG model (not through choice, I had it in the shed already). Did it as a stopgap but it looked so good it stayed like that for the rest of it's life.

Think I will stay with the same/ slightly darker colour. I've had green with a green chimaera and blue on my old blue S2 ... those colours seem to work best. Always been a bit divided on red/ red

Good choice, especially with your cream interior - lovely car. I've got blue/blue on my Griff, but orange with black roof on the Tuscan.

How about the same colour as the interior, cream roof?
can't find a good example but:

Slightly strange suggestion I know, but as you softop owners have them down more than up, why not match the interior it's against?

Seen that on classic cars such as MGB's and can look really good on them and seen them on gold/ sand coloured chimaeras. However I don't think it works on a Griff.

I think the red looks amazing but difficult to match when it fades so burgundy would be the best option, maybe someone can do a photoshop
