Hey guys, I'm wondering because, I was adding a bit of oil to my E46 today, and I noticed some yellow liquid around my oil filler cap. So I thought, oh short trips.
I know I do short trips, but I let my coolant warm up, but i don't know the temperature of my oil, so I might be turning it off before it gets up to oil temp.
If I do this, will it damage my internal moving parts? I only shift at around 2.1k RPMs and I don't think that's too much. What will it wear out? I'm willing to do longer trips if that might help, (about maybbe 5 minutes longer max)

P.S I drive about 20 minutes, sometimes more.

P.S.S
It's an 316i, 1796cc DOHC Longidutinal Inline 4.

I have a short commute and noticed the same color on the oil cap. I have changed the oil, and made sure that 4-5 times I a week I make sure I go for trips that warm up the oil. Since I have been doing that the no more yellow discoloring.

Mine was always more apparent during cold weather - I wouldn’t worry about it too much.
