Hi guys i have a 2002 318ci 2.0l....

My brake light stay on while driving, however when i flick the front fog lights on it turns the brake lights back out again.....

But when i turn the ignition to 2nd position, apply brakes and release, the brake lights work as they should

Im only having the problem while the engine is running, i also replaced all the bulbs and the switch sensor on brake pedal.

Any advice or opinions would be much appreciated

Sounds like a faulty ign switch or LCM. (Light switch unit).

Just remembered i should have added this in my description.... im not 100% but i feel like it started after i jetwashed the car. Could just be coincidence but not sure. All the wiring around the light clusters look in goon shape though

Sounds annoying! Are there any breaks in the wiring to the bootlid by the hinge?

It's more a problem with facelift saloons, but check the rear bulb holders where the multi plugs clip on - they can burn the earth contacts out and cause all manner of dramas.

Iv checked the wiring and see no breaks or bad contacts. I really have no idea what to look at now and its driving me mad. I know electrical issues can cost crazy money at a garage. So i was hoping to avoid that.

Just out of curiosity where the brake pedal arm touches the switch is it just where it touches the arm or is there meant to be anything on there for the switch to touch? Sorry if its a stupid question im just not up to scratch with this stuff yet
