Hey guys I've been looking for some hot hatches on the market and I honestly can't decide.
I currently have a turbo Corsa which I will be trading in and some finance after .
This will be with my 2nd year ncb and a theft (I have to declare it although it was all covered by me)
I'm also very young as I'm 20.

I've been looking at 2 cars in particular although other options are welcome .

Polo GTI 6R (2011-2012) - These come with a DSG gearbox which I must admit might get boring but definitely seemed faster to drive as I wasn't changing gears on my own.

I looked into this car and the 1.4 seems to be having a lot of problems same as on a skoda vrs which I am worried about.

Fiesta ST (2013-2014) - This car for some reason didn't feel that much faster but a lot tighter and the seats were awesome .

Now you may be thinking there's also other cars . These 2 we're the cheapest for insurance for some reason , polo being even 300 quid cheaper. A skoda vrs with the same 1.4 is also cheap so maybe the insurance is based on the engine size .

My budget is a maximum of 10K but I'm mainly also looking for cheap insurance which is a problem for my age and past history .

Please leave any advise.

Keep the corsa a few more years and save for a house.

I know it’s not what you want to hear but your going down road of every young man.

I was in a similar position, I’m 22 and just sold my Corsa for a leased 1.4l Seat Leon FR Tech 125PS @ £157.15/pm (9+23).

From the two I would definitely go for the Fiesta ST. DSG doesn't belong it a hot hatch IMO, a good manual is where it's at. If there's one type of car that should retain manual, it's hot hatches!

What the first person said lol! Heard great things about the fiesta st but personally i don't like the design.

Sounds like you prefer a newish car but a 3.2 V6 Audi TT (not a hatch i know) would be great at that budget

There are many great cars like that but paying like 3x more on insurance would be so hard for me . Unfortunately it's gotta be a small engine car

Fair point, a bit biased but a Type R FN2 would be great!

Are good junior hatch options but I'd spend less get yourself a true hot hatch with some of the money saved going towards the extra insurance cost.

Mini Cooper S?

A tuning box takes these to 246BHP and a remap takes them to 291BHP.

Insurance is 2.4x the ammount on a fiesta

Perhaps a Mini Cooper? Not “hot hatch” quick but definitely warm, will be great to drive and should be ok on insurance.

Also forgot to mention is that they’ll likely be cheap(ish) lease options given the facelift release is imminent. Dealers will probably want to get rid of stock too...

Oh not good. frown

That surprises me.

I would run with the Fiesta then. A regular Cooper is going to be down on power compared to it and whilst its tunable you're starting from a much lower base point.

BMW 120i / 120d? My son had a 120d M Sport when he was 19. His was silver, 3 door, black leather, 18s. Looked quite well and a tuning box takes them to 220BHP.

It was an awful lot more insurable than a hot hatch but went well and handled well.

OR a 123d M Sport? 202BHP as standard

Heres a 2012 new model 120d m Sport for slightly over budget

The old E87 has issues with 116, 118, 120 and 123 i and d models - all have massive timing chain issues. The only 1 series worth looking at are the 6 cylinder petrols
