Not possible (as far as I know) on the 981 - suspect the same on 718. Pocket gps world "Camera Alert" is the best I've come across on Android - available on iphone too. If you put your phone in the armrest you will be able to hear the voice alerts. Costs - but if you supply an update to the database (very easy) you get a free year.

This might work. Must admit not read it in any detail so might not!

Those instructions talk about files suffixed with .gpx. I couldn't upload all of those for some reason - don't know why. But there are files suffixed by .asc, those can be uploaded. As part of the upload you can change the name, I removed the "pocketgps_" to make it more readable.

After they are uploaded they can be activated per the instructions. If you activate *all* of them, you get all the possible locations include the mobile ones - which IMHO are less useful, as you'll get lots of false positives.

I just enabled the "gatso" file, which I think is the fixed cameras. It seems to show my local fixed cameras.

Use Waze it's brilliant...not only does it have Speed Cameras but people report speed traps/vans so they get flagged too! Also very good for traffic and better routing than PCM. The speed camera alert is speed sensitive so if you're under the speed limit it won't shout at you but it will show them on the map.

I used Waze in Italy last year. I've a hunch that people report speed cameras in their own villages where there are none, in an attempt to slow people down.

Can't comment but I'm driving down through France on Friday and then back up to Switzerland through Italy over the Gd St Bernard pass so will let you know if I see anything similar. I used it in France and Switzerland over Xmas and found it really good. There must be something in Switzerland about speed camera reporting as the cameras all show up as police rather than a speed camera.

its illegal to flag up speed cameras in those countries so its flagged as police or an average speed zone , Waze is great for this stuff

Instructions above work like a dream....installed on my MY18 718 without any issue. So far picked up all the static cameras that I know locally, more difficult to test out the mobiles until I spot one near the alert sounding.

There is also a folder on the dropbox site in the linked instructions that has updated locations data.

Highly recommended and pretty simple to use.

I've just tried it and cannot get the mobile.gpx and gatso.gpx files to work (server error). Anyone have any ideas?

I uploaded the csv files in the new folder. They were dated newer so I presume more up to date. Haven’t done the in car process yet though.

Cheers. I figured it by myself a few mins after posting. There aren't any fixed speed cameras near me so I won't be able to confirm everything is working.

Many thanks for this - installed on my 718s this morning and the Sat Nav has, thus far, alerted correctly a couple of local fixed cameras smile

I used the asc files and it works brilliantly, but has anyone been able to turn the bong down? It’s ear piercing, and gets louder dependent on speed.

Still funny every time it makes my girlfriend jump though.

Just jumping in on this one, but what do people use to hold their phones? I've got a 981 cayman and am looking for most atheistic way to mount the phone, but there are lots of solutions out there!
