Hi, it is exactly a year since I bought my 12C Spider from Alastair Bols and the warranty expires tomorrow. I had hoped to get the car to McLaren to check it over before it expired, with a view to taking a fresh factory warranty. Sadly they can’t fit me in, so I need to get a local garage to check it over. Are there any particular issues we should look for? I have heard of weeping gearbox seals, is this easy to spot? My car has covered 10k miles and no sign of oil, but any pointers to this or anything else appreciated. Thanks

A local garage to check it over?

Who? Would be my 1st question
&
Why? Would be my 2nd

If you want to extend the warranty only a Mclaren dealer can sort it.

If the car works, relax and enjoy it.

Thanks, the warranty was supplied by Alastair Bols when I bought the car. I had intended to get the car checked by McLaren whilst under warranty in case they spotted any issues, before renewing the warranty with them. Unfortunately due to illness I couldn’t do this, so took it to a local garage to see if they could spot and gearbox leakage issues (they couldn’t) and also BEA cause a garage, rather than me, had to report a minor parking sensor issue that needs sorting. All worked fine. When I bought the car I think a McLaren warranty was around £3k, apparently now it is £5k. Gulp. Is anyone using a warranty other than the factory one?

Jeeze seriously, this Thorney http://www.thorney.ms/cms/racing/BTCC_Update.html

They couldn’t get sponsorship due to constantly spinning on the warm up laps, their car was undriveable !!!

I’d be worried if they were working on a Mac.
