My steering has always been 'notchey' but has got worse over the winter. I took the steering column off (the one under the bonnet) and the UJ closest to the rack is very very tight. I've tried to free it up with WD40 etc. but I think its gone. Does anyone know what car this is from or where I can get another one. Both ends of the UJ clamp onto a slined shaft so it will need to match it up.

I did smile when trying to get the car back in the garage with no steering !!!

Should be loads of info under the previous threads on this (see 'steering column joints' and similar).
Parts are TVR uniquely modded Ford bits so you will need to contact one of the TVR spares dealers. The top one was no snag to replace on mine, but there are a couple of options for the bottom one (connects to rack). Got mine from TVR Power - about £55 each.

It's a good idea to grease the one in the centre of the column and fit a universal rubber boot over it to keep dirt out. I keep meaning to do this on my car but 3 years on......

Should have one coming from Tower View. £24.60 + VAT
Haven't used them before but very helpful and they knew exactly what I was talking about.

Just thought I'd post an update.

New UJ fitted which has transformed the steering.

Bad news though the car failed its MOT on a couple of items, one of them was a split steering rack gaitor. Just ordered a new pair from Tower Hill (14.00 each) and the Guy said the rack was originally from a Vauxhall Viva ?????
