997.2 GT3 or 991.2 GTS
Discussion
Thinking of returning to the Porsche fold after a 9 year absence, and I have a dilemma (putting my tin hat on in anticipation of some flack)
For similar money, I can buy a 2011 GT3 (997.2) comfort spec in beautiful condition, low miles. Or an almost new 991.2 GTS (Cabrio - but ignore that for now) with less than 1k miles and a two year porsche warranty.
I always thought I wanted a GT3, but I have a sneaky suspicion that the GTS might be more usable and actually more drivable everyday (not that it will be an everyday car). The GT3 is still way over list even after 7 years, so I am wondering if it will drop by much, whereas the GTS is around list although it's a year old.

If you enjoy driving, and want something special, you'd be hard pushed to buy better than the 997.2 GT3. Values dropped to mid-£70k in 2012 but have risen since to circa £110k-120k. Subsequent 911s will come and go so, no doubt the 991.2 GTS will be a fantastic car (I haven't driven one) but it will be followed by another and another with each iteration new and improved. In my mind, the 997.2 GT3 (and preceding GT3s) are classics never to be repeated so get one while you still can. They are both very different cars but have to say the 997 would always win as a more raw drivers car and every time you get in and depress the very firm clutch and clonk it into gear it gives you a sense of occasional that always puts a smile on your face.
997.2’s have actually come down a bit over the past couple of years but £110k seems to be the benchmark for them now.
The white one @ TH BOLER looks the best bet for you as has comfort seats and front lift which is a nice option as helps you get out of tight spots.
It should be fine to transfer the Porsche warranty as most if not all of their cars are on SOR so hasn’t gone into the trade that Porsche don’t like.
