Isn't it about time...........

They put Convoy back on telly for an airing?
it was the dark of the moon on the sixth of June
And a Kenworth pullin' logs
Cab-over Pete with a reefer on
And a Jimmy haulin' hogs
We's headin' for bear on eye-one-oh
'bout a mile outta shakeytown
I says "Pigpen this here's Rubber Duck"
"and i'm about to put the hammer down"
The Duck would sort the robbing scameras out

It was a foggy day on the 6th of May
In a Scammell hauling bricks
It was just cracking dawn
And I'm starting to yawn
'Cos I couldn't find any nice chicks
I'd tried Newport Pagnell, Teddington
And even Watford Gap
But after so many egg and chips, sausage and beans
What I really needed was a nap

Dammit........missed it again
Smokey was the second highest grossing film of '77 behind Star Wars and was waaaaaaaaay better than Convoy
but.......
Convoy is so bad ......it's really kind of....good!
a heavy duty version of Vanishing Point
I mean VP is several stratospheres above Convoy
but Martin Penwald is little like Kowalski .....they have a healthy disregard for the law......
and that's good
(in the film world)
Love that Mack R700 longnose though
'don't you be calling my truck ugly ,Lyle'

Unfortunately FatherTed, This film, and the CB scene was the start of the: "driving whilst holding something" crime.
Radio Hams like me were happily driving around without hinderance working the Amateur bands for many years, until this: "craze" came upon the scene.
The Police, needing an excuse to stop the illegal transmissions, used the "not in proper control" law, because "radio regulation", was NOT their business. Then we were "picked on" and "mistaken for" people like you.
I was stopped myself for having an antenna on the roof, and threatened that my gear would be "confiscated". That is: until I told him NO! I'm licenced by the Home Office and that that equipment stays with me and is Legal, and I gave him my GB call sign(he hadn't a clue anyway).
Sorry mate, I don't share your; ..............nostalgia.
Now we have the "Mobile phone use" restrictions. MMmmh!!!
All because of "CB"
