1.8t forge dump valve yes or no
Discussion
Hi everyone got a modified a4 b5 1.8t going to be running around 250bhp soon once I fit my new turbo injectors and all that fun stuff my question is do I fit a forge dump valve or just stick with the standard Bosch one has any one got any experience of them is anyone running them any info would be much appreciated cheers
The thinking at the time was that the OEM plastic ones couldn't take the heat and extra boost after a remap and an upgrade was a wise investment, but by the time I moved on plenty of people were saying it was all rubbish and the OEM ones were fine.
I believe they were around £12 3-4 years ago vs £70+ for the Forge 007/8 units. You pay your money etc
But after X years and so many 000 miles a new DV is probably worth doing regardless

Worth reading the 1.8T tuning sections on the R-TEC Perfomance website as they're highly regarded in 1.8T tuning circles.
To quote them:
"You will also need a strong air tight diverter valve (DV) as the older standard valves are prone to fail and cause power loss and turbo lag. We recommend the upgrade Forge Motorsport 007p DV with yellow spring (£85) or the latest stock valve from the main dealers just ask for part number 06A145710N (£30)."
So the answer is you can use a standard or Forge 007/008 DV.

One of these was fitted to an Audi TT 1.8T 225 I bought many years ago second hand. It caused a warning light on the dash occasionally and I removed it due to the noise. Personal preference though of course, but just be aware of secondary issues like warning lights if not fitted correctly.
