Blown 5th gear cruising at 70 on the way to the Mini Miglia classic tour a couple of weeks ago.

Looking to have a full gearbox rebuild, and probably the uprated gear set and 5th gear from Gearbox man. I also see TVR-Parts do an uprated box.

Anybody any experience of these or other recommendations?

Thanks
Mm

Competition transmission services at markyate are very good. Sensibly priced too.

Another vote for CTS here,

They have done all our race car gearboxes. In the 4.7 Cerbera race car in 10 years of racing we have had one third gear let go, I would say that’s quite impressive!

Good luck trying to buy parts from them

They were either unable or unwilling to supply either a new input shaft or retainer shims when I asked

I agree, Paul Cangialosi's videos are great, and helped me understand how to rebuild my T5WC

However, you do still need a way to remove 5th gear

and a press to to fit the new one (or a DIY equivalent)

That bottle jack is mainly used for compressing ball joints to allow the removal of corroded nuts without the ball joint spinning

I can't remember the last time I used it to lift a car

I have always used Readman Racing for my gearbox rebuilds, great service.
