Chipsaway has had several previous threads, from memory - haven't tried them myself.....yet.
As for alloys, my neighbours just had their Lexus and Merc treated by www.wicked-wheels.co.uk and were very impressed with the service (they come to you, whisk the wheels away and come back - hopefully you're not on blocks of bricks too long!) and when I took a look I could not see the join!

Bought a chip-stick (like a wax crayon) from Les Smiths and have tested on my wing mirror. It's vastly improved the appearance by hiding the stone chips, (being a non-permanent solution). For £5 I think that'll do until it's time for the perennial respray.

OK on most colours but unfortunately I could'nt get a stick to match Halcyon Midas
Certainly easier than touch up paint - It's just like colouring-in. The dark Blue seems a good colour match. I imagine 15 mins will remove my car's white freckles. Also you don't need to worry about getting an exact colour match and applying laquer coats.
All I know is that my car is Starmist Blue. Well I believe Starmist actually refers to the courser than normal speckled metallic finish, in much the same way as Pearlescent refers to the sheen-like paint finish. So I therefore would have no idea of what the colour is actually called. Mica Blue seems as close as I've seen.
Having said all of this, I'm about to tackle some scratches on my wife's Vauxhall with the Halfords touch-up kit, as I found the exact colour. Sadly they didn't list TVR

.well i used chipsaway and they could not get the paint to stick on some of the chips ,but the ones that stuck looked good as they match the paint from the tvr code, but was it worth the 60 quid i paid ,i would have to say no i have had better results just useing halfords touch up kits with a colour that is very close.the chipsaway rep thought it may have been the fibre glass gel coat that was causing the problem but i think it was the fact that i had used a chip stik on some of the chips before and paint will not stick to that stuff...
ChipsAhoy, chapsticks, dabiton and hide-'n-heal are all very well but I suggest that there's no substitute for the front-end respray and ArmourFend www.armourfend.com/

Correct me if i am Drunkish and wrong but wasnt the fibre glass gel coat paint only on the newer Tvr's/and Re-sprays and used for this very purpose to stop chips.
And surely a company like Chipsaway who i am understood to be quite reputable "should Know why the paint will not take" and if it was a chip stick which a lot of people use, they would have some product to remove it??

paint code should be in your handbook and it is also marked on the plate under the bonnet ,and yes they should have known how to remove chip stik but alas the paint did not stick to some of the chips so what are we left with ,a front end respray bet that costs a bit but no doubt it will look better.

Except it is not a direct paint code. The number has to be cross referenced with ICI to find out what the paint recipe is. Also chcek that it is the same colour: quite a few cars have been resprayed or had a different/wrong code and the owner has eneded up with 25 litres of green paint for a red car.

Just on the subject of Chips Away, I called them a year or so back and was underwhelmed.
It's a franchise so they're dependent on the quality of te local merchant so my problem may only be local but is smacks of lack of control.
The guy who came round had Dupont paint codes and despite chasing him for ages about matching them to ICI's paint codes he never bothered. Waited two afternoons waiting for him to come round and then tell me he couldn't do anything. This was on a Cooper Green Chimaera too -- not exactly the most unusual colour in the world.

Just had the Chipsaway guy round. took one look at the car and said he could'nt do the job as there were no edges to work to i.e because the bonnet is one flat surface it would mean doing the whole thing. I thought that the company specialised in doing odd stone chips which is what I wanted. Not a happy bunny this morning!!

By the way, TVR have announced a new treatment for bodywork pre-respray which protects against stone chips. Jason Webb at TVRBodyshop (Webb's Autos) knows all about it. TVR Bodyshop re-sprayed my front end (after light conversion) and did a cracking job.
