Long time lurker first time poster. Struggling big time to find something suitable.

We're replacing an aging Zafira that's seen better days.

Need something that's big enough to cart about the family and dogs on long jaunts and holidays. It'll be a daily driver for the wife. We very occasionally carry other people so I've been looking at 7 seaters, but that's not essential. Not so keen on estates, more a fan of MPVs and SUVs.

The wife likes the S-Max, I've also been looking at Freelanders, RAV4s and Vitaras. A £5k budget doesn't seem to go that far for a big family shed, most stuff in that price range seems quite sought after and even with sky high mileage asking for silly money.

Help!

Mitsubish Outlander, Citroën c-crosser, Peugeot 4007, all the same car, massive value if you really want a 7 seat 4x4 on the cheap that is not huge or with silly running costs.

Totally forgotten by the press and public alike, not the most refined, but space aplenty and good kit levels in top spec cars which are worth hunting out.

Honda CRV? Might be big enough, reliability on them is normally pretty solid

Citroen Berlingo for that budget / requirement, loads of space and cheap.

Cheers for the suggestions.

I've just put a deposit down on a Santa Fe 2.2 auto.

7 seats, bags of room and seem to be generally regarded as (fairly) bulletproof.
