hi, i have just bought myself a 98 chimaera first problem i have is its been fitted with the wrong battery and the leads look twisted into the wrong position, i am hoping someone can help by telling me the proper way the battery should sit i.e. posts facing front or rear and which side is the positive should be on, any help appreciated, one more thing can anyone tell me where i can purchase the carpeted board that sits in front of the battery thanks Derek

terminals are nearest the passenger seat position isnt important i have seen plenty of both only way to get a panel would be from a breaker not the sort of thing folk sell off there cars.

Terminals to rear of car on mine and positive to the left, as sat in the car.
Probably quite easy to make up a board out of some thin ply and get it trimmed, I’m sure someone could make you a card template. Pm me if you want me to try as mine is currently out.

D&C Trim will make you one up to orginal spec. Call them for a price. Just tell them the colour you need, the edging and the stiching colour and they'll sort it pretty quickly.

Most size batteries can be obtained with either terminal position. Just do a dimensioned sketch of what you want and visit your local helpful knowledgeable motor factors (or look up alternatives for yourself on line).

I found when buying an Exide battery a few years ago that the 072, which is the one I was told to get, is the wrong way round for my car, but the 073 is an 072 with the terminals reversed.
