looking for a motor in the 15-18k price bracket

-Needs to be comfortable and glide over pot holes
-needs to have quite a bit of space for the driver,(6ft4)
-needs to be reasonably nippy c.7secs to 60 or less.
-auto is the preference

so far I've come back with
-Audi q5 3.0 TDi
-2012 ML350

anyone got any personal recommendations?

Mercedes CL500, I'm 6'7 & find the headroom fine in one of those if it has to be diesel then the S350 is the place to be.

I'd say the CL every time but had to give the option here's an even better CL:

Or if you insurance can stomach it what about a CL63:

That CL63 appears to be two different colours? First 5 pictures are silver and the rest are white?

What's the tuning potential like on these? Any common modifications that are worth doing?

Id be looking at a Lexus - with a V8, LS460 would do the job nicely.

In your situation I bought a facelift diesel jag xj.

I’m 6’5 and it’s roomy, quick (dynamic mode and a remap helps) and the long wheel base soaks up bumps. It also has several toys (massage and cooled seats front and back, large touchscreen, powered boot, keyless etc)

Not sure on that one maybe a wrap that they took off? A phone call would be needed.

Mods wise fitting an X pipe releases a bit more noise & use the Star diagnostic to lower these down around 20mm, cosmetically you can go as wild as you want.

How about a 4.4 V8 diesel L322 Range Rover? Go for smaller alloys and higher profile tyres and you'll forget potholes exist.
