When they don’t react how you think they would…!
Well on Saturday at 11am I became the proud and nervous owner of this:

1999 Chimaera 450 in Starmist Blue with Magnolia Half Hide interior.
When my Vitara had gone, it was time to insure the TVR, direct line were the cheapest by nearly £2K. Norwich Union wanted nearly £5k..!
I filled her up with Optimax and went for a drive…I ended up in Staffordshire, so I call my friend and kipped on her couch.
Next day I had the acid test – the parents. Now as you know I have strong connections with the factory, Dad was the test driver as well as doing other roles for many years including the Chim years.
In fact he probably test drove my car..! Mum does the warranty so can tell me the service history and stuff.
Dad put her through the paces, just like if he was on a test drive and when he finished he commented that it was one of the better cars he has driven, no leaks, squeaks, rattle, the engine pulled cleanly, fans kicked in when they should, breaks were firm and clutch was perfect. I did mention that I found the clutch very heavy and apparently it has a Competition Clutch so that’s why.
After I had been to the parents I went to Roops and we had a convoy of him in the RS 500 and me in my new Chim. Pics to follow later on when I get back home.
I finally got home last night at 11pm, absolutely knackered and aching all over from being tense and finding the car so different in weight to the Vitara.
The only problem I have is being small, I have to have the seat close to the steering wheel to reach the pedals so I feel a bit uncomfortable and my left shoulder aches from being lifted slightly as I was resting my arm on the center console. Any ideas how to raise myself up a bit..? I will get the pedal box moved a bit to help as well.
All in all I am one chuffed Gaffer, and my name is now on the factory records of owener number 4.

Lastly big thanks to Shane at SFR for putting up with my concerns and panicing and to Dom at Power for telling me to shut up and get on with it..thanks lads.

Claire, I had my seat and pedals adjusted by Joolz, he put a couple of spacers under the seat to raise it a little. The pedals were changed for Leven ones which made a great deal of difference. I could have the seat futher back and drive with my arms out instead of bunched up because I had to be so far forward.

Congratulations Claire! Sounds like a great choice (though a very different car to your long line of Suzuki's).
That contracting job of yours must be going very well.
Speaking of your parents, could you thank your mum for sorting my warranty out (I think she'll know what I mean), definately more than I expected.

- lose the 's' I have had the opportunity to have a good scope around the car and it all looks dead straight. I know Claire's been after a TVR for a while so with the weather as it is it's a superb buy and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did the ride out in it...

ooh great another female tiv driver, welcome to the fold. BTW I am 5'4 and I had problems withg the pedals, I could reach but only at a stretch. Him indoors raised the seat and extended the seat runners. Now I can drive with ease and for quite long distances. I am still a bit oin awe of Rooster sometimes but it is such an fantastic experience owning one of these. we are all very lucky! So are you coming to the ladies meet?
