Hi Guys,

i had a brand new battery fitted to my Cayman S a few months ago and since then i've not driven it all.

Can you guys recommend me a good trickle charger? i'm guessing the amp output would need to be pretty high so it doesnt take 2 days to charge a battery from near flat to full at the same time i don't want to damage the battery for fast charging etc.

Could one of you shed some light on what Amp's / Volts i need?

i was thinking of the below

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B004A91664/ref...

thanks in advance!

For the peace of mind that comes from buying the best, I'd buy a CTEK of some flavour. A MXS 5.0 or a MXS 7.0 will do everything from charging a flat battery in a sensible amount of time all the way through to maintenance charging that will look after your battery if the vehicle is not used. Both have protections galore and (I believe) they both come with a lead that can be screwed to the battery terminals so that connection/disconnection becomes a breeze. As usual.....pays your money, takes your choice!

Second the Ctek recommendation, I use one on my car all the time.

CTEK 3.8 is more than sufficient.

CTEK 5.0 seemed the best bet for me. Bought one off Amazon at Xmas along with the cigarette charger adapter and extension cable.

Get a smart charger (ctek mx5.0 is highly recommended) then this allows you to:
- charge the battery in situ.
- leave the charger connected long term if you aren’t driving the car
- recondition your battery (which it may need if it’s been flat for a while)
- charge AGM batteries correctly (not sure if yours is AGM?)

It’s more expensive than your option (£55-60) but a much better bet.
